Brian Prew

It is with sadness that I share the news that Brian Prew passed away on 2nd June. He started sailing Stellas in Burnham owning Four Bells with friends. He then raced a Contessa 32, Jemima C. Next, he bought his first Beta of Burnham, a Sigma 36, racing both on the river and off shore with EAORA. In later years he and Jo Barker cruised extensively in Holland in his final Beta. Past Commodore of the Crouch Yacht Club and member of Probus, he will be greatly missed.

  1. Very sad to hear this news. We raced against Brian back in the Stella days. Good bloke.

  2. A sad loss, I know Brian had been unwell for a long time but it is always a sad day when the end comes.
Brian introduced me to sailing offshore on a regular basis on Beta of Burnham in the mid 80’s.
Together we sailed many, many miles, regularly taking part in EAORA weeks in Holland, Belgium and France.
We often took part in the CYC feature races to Harwich, Brightlingsea and the likes.
My thoughts and condolences go to Jo Barker and her family.
