Kayaks at the BSC

Burnham Sailing Club (BSC) are proud to have a growing Kayak section within the club who, over the years, have matured and grown from a few locals paddling on the river Crouch to the thriving social sea kayak section it has become today, welcoming new members and experienced kayakers and canoeists to this great paddle sport.

The group meets at BSC each Wednesday at 5:30pm during the season (April to September), to be on the water at 6pm. As well as all the facilities offered by BSC, we have a boat store within the grounds where members can store their kayaks, space permitting.
This is an ideal environment for beginners to gain an understanding of basic skills and techniques whilst becoming acquainted with the various water flow and levels influenced by the tides.

As a club member you will gain experience and confidence on the water, with our coaches and experienced kayakers to hand. Our focus is to create a fun and friendly social environment for all members to enjoy.

We organise a number of tour expeditions, events and training courses away from the river Crouch throughout the year. You may find yourself ambling along a river canal in a Canadian canoe or sea kayaking through rough waters that test skills and techniques.
We run a number of organised training courses on the river Crouch and pool sessions during the colder months, these are supervised and guided with the support of qualified coaches and leaders on hand, helping members to improve in confidence, personal skills and expand their experience of sea kayaking. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can hire everything you need from us.
